Dean M. Kirkel, MD joined Northwest Georgia Oncology Centers in December 2013.  He completed his internship and residency at St. Mary’s Health Center / St. Louis University in St. Louis, MO in 2004. Following his residency Dr. Kirkel served as a junior faculty member in the Department of Medicine at Washington University in St. Louis where he was responsible for patient management and resident teaching in general medicine and oncology. Upon completion of his fellowship at George Washington University Medical Center in Washington, D.C. in 2009, Dr. Kirkel treated patients in private practice in Boynton Beach, FL.

Dr. Kirkel has a clinical interest in lymphomas, plasma cell disorders, breast cancer, clotting disorders, and gastrointestinal neoplasia.  He is actively involved in cancer research and clinical trials to find a cancer cure and provide his patients with the most advanced cancer treatment available in Georgia as a Principal Investigator of the William S. Gibbons Cancer Research Institute.

He provides patient-centered cancer care at NGOC’s Marietta Cancer Center.
