Cancer Center Treatment Options

Our cancer doctors take the lead to determine the course of treatment best suited for you and the type of cancer you’re fighting. We want to provide the advanced treatments with the most potency and least side effects possible. Northwest Georgia Oncology Centers does not take a “one treatment plan fits all” approach.  Today there is a definite shift in how we’re triumphing over cancer.

Treatment plans differ depending on the type and severity of the cancer and how quickly we can stop the proliferation of the cancerous cells from spreading to other parts of the body. Of course, our patients’ wishes are factored in to the treatment plan. The course of cancer treatment may vary and include one or more modalities such as surgery, chemotherapy,  radiation therapy, or participation in a cutting-edge clinical trials. We will talk with you one-on-one and determine the best plan of action.

Chemotherapy

Chemotherapy treats localized tumors that are limited to a specific area, and metastatic cancers that have spread.

Hormonal Therapy

Hormonal Therapy will remove, block, or add hormones to destroy or slow the growth of cancer cells.

Immunotherapy

Immunotherapy is a type of biological therapy. It's a type of cancer treatment that helps your body fight infectious and other diseases.

Targeted Therapy

Targeted therapy uses drugs to target specific genes and proteins that are involved in the growth and survival of cancer cells. Targeted therapy can affect the tissue environment related to cancer growth.

An Effective Plan

There are many discriminating factors to consider when coming up with an effective treatment plan to fight cancer. As to why treatment plans differ, it’s dependent on the type and severity of the cancer and how quickly we can stop the proliferation of the cancerous cells from spreading to other parts of the body. Of course, our patients’ wishes are factored in as well. Our cancer care team works collaboratively with you and your family to determine the best treatment course with several factors and patient goals in mind. Factors include your overall condition, the specific characteristics of your cancer and if the cancer have spread (metastasized). Our cancer doctors encourage a treatment plan to achieve the best possible outcome for you.
